The 2025 regular season is about to wrap up, and we’re going out with a bang. In just two weeks, we’ll play our last game before the Main Event, and it’s one of the wildest formats we’ve ever run: The Win-the-Button Championship.
This isn’t just another tournament—it’s your chance to grab a piece of the guaranteed prize pool, rack up bonus chips for the Main Event, and maybe even walk away as Player of the Year.
Why This Event Is Extra Juicy
- Shorter starting stacks → Faster action, bigger swings.
- Unlimited re-entries → Bust early? Shake it off and jump right back in.
- Win-the-Button rule → Win a hand, and you get the button. Play aggressively and keep the positional advantage (plus delay paying the blinds) as long as possible!
- $450 guaranteed prize pool → Even if we don’t hit 22 entries, the money is locked in. More entries = more free money.
- Player of the Year race → About half of our players are still in the hunt for POY, but most of them will actually have to win the event, so they are all incentivized to rack up a big stack early on.
And don’t forget: every point you earn translates into extra chips for the 2025 Main Event in October. A strong finish here could boost your Main Event stack by 30–60%.
Who Will Be Player of the Year?
The biggest storyline of the night: who will end 2025 as our Player of the Year (POY)? Half the club is still alive in the race, and the math is wild. Here’s the short version:
Tier 1: Win and You’re In
- Peggy, Kasra, and Christina control their destiny. If any of them win Event #5, they’re also POY.
- It’s Peggy’s award to lose, and she could win simply by showing up for this last event. A finish in the money would eliminate most of the field from the race and put a lot of pressure on the rest of the competitors.
- Kasra and Christina could end up on top with a finish as low as 4th in this last event if Peggy busts early enough.
Tier 2: Need Some Help
- Steve and Shealyn can still grab the crown, but they’ll need Tier 1 players (especially Peggy) to stumble.
- A win gives them a real shot, but a second place finish could do the trick too.
Tier 3: So You’re Saying There’s a Chance…
- Chris, Tania, Sharon, James, Matt, Rob, and Thuy are longshots, but a win plus some stumbles up top could flip the script.
Tier 4: Boost the Entries, Boost Your Odds
- Daniela, Emma, Luciano, Crystal, Kara, and Lauren need a record turnout (26+ entries) to revive their hopes for a POY run. Their path: win the event + hope the leaders bust early.
Tier 5: Better Luck Next Year (But Still Dangerous!)
- Everyone else may be out of the POY hunt, but there’s still serious motivation: bonus chips for the Main Event and the last big payout of the season.
